TUCSONS FINEST PARANORMAL PRESENTS
THE JEROME GRAND HOTEL APRIL 10TH MMXV
OPENED IN 1927 THE UNITED VERDE HOSPITAL QUICKLY BECAME THE MOST MODERN AND WELL EQUIPPED FACILITY IN THE SOUTHWEST. BUT SADLY AS THE MINING INDUSTRY MADE A RAPID DECLINE, THE HOSPITAL WAS FORCED TO CLOSE IN 1950. IN 1994 THE PHELPS DODGE MINING CO. PURCHASED AND RENOVATED THE BUILDING. IT REMAINS ONE OF THE TALLEST BUILDINGS IN THE REGION STANDING 5240 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL, AND IS ABLE TO WITHSTAND A DYNAMITE BLAST OF UP TO 260,000 POUNDS WITHOUT DAMAGING THE INFRASTRUCTURE. THE BUILDING TODAY OFFERS ALL THE MOST MODERN AMENITIES WITH THE NOSTALGIC FEEL KEPT IN TACT. THE ORIGINAL ELEVATOR AS WELL AS THE BOILER ARE STILL OPERATING SINCE 1926. THERE WERE OVER 9000 DEATHS IN THE BUILDING DURING ITS OPERATION AS A HOSPITAL, AND MORE TO COME DURING THE BUILDINGS NEW LIFE AS A HOTEL. SUICIDES, AND MYSTERIOUS DEATHS ADD TO THE ALLURE AND INTRIGUE OF THE BUILDING, BUT THE AMBIANCE IS CALMING. THERE WERE SOME NOTABLE DEATHS THAT HAPPENED IN THE BUILDING, SUCH AS CLAUDE M. HARVEY, A BUILDING FIRE INSPECTOR WHO'S HEAD WAS CRUSHED BENEATH THE ELEVATOR IN 1936. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED BUT MANY WHO KNEW HARVEY PERSONALLY BELIEVE IT WAS FOUL PLAY. THE CORONERS AUTOPSY REPORT DETERMINED THAT MR. HARVEY'S NECK WAS IN FACT BROKEN BEFORE THE MOMENT OF IMPACT.
OUR INVESTIGATION BEGAN AT AROUND 10:30 P.M. IN ROOM 30. THE ROOM WAS USED AS THE MATERNITY WARD DURING ITS OPERATION AS A HOSPITAL. THE BATHROOM AREA WAS AN ADD ON AND WOULD HAVE BEEN ORIGINALLY AN ENTRANCE INTO THE SURGICAL/DELIVERY ROOM. ADJOINING OUR ROOMS WERE ROOM 31,33 WHICH WERE ALSO LIGHTLY INVESTIGATED. THEN THE UN-RENOVATED MEN'S AND WOMEN'S WARDS WERE INVESTIGATED. IT WAS OVERALL A QUIET NIGHT, HOWEVER WE DID YIELD SOME VERY INTERESTING ANOMALIES DURING A PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIMENT ATTEMPTING TO REPLICATE AN IMAGE CAPTURED ON THE 3RD FLOOR AT AROUND 1:05 A.M.. I ALSO WAS DOING A SOLO D.V.R. SESSION IN THE BATHROOM AREA OF ROOM 30 AT AROUND 2:30 A.M. AND WITNESSED WHAT APPEARED TO BE KNOCKING SOUNDS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE NORMAL HOTEL NOISES HEARD THROUGH THE NIGHT.
