Farmer Johns Meat Packing Plant/ Slaughterhouse (GRANT/I-10)

BUILDING HISTORY:

Clougherty Packing Company was established in 1962 in Tucson AZ. Operations started in 1931 by a pair of brothers named Francis & Bernard Clougherty. In 1945, Clougherty Packing Company was incorporated in California.  In 1953, Farmer John’s brand was introduced. In 1957, artist Les Grimes painted a now famous wall around a meat plant in Vernon California. Grimes later painted a mural around The Tucson Plant as well. In 1962, the Farmer John’s Plant opened in Tucson AZ. The Plant remained open until 2001. Hormel later purchased Clougherty Meats in 2004 for $186 Million.

Library: Archives were purged. No information was located pertaining to the building or address thereof.

Tucson Coroners Office: Investigator was contacted, but no information on the building was available. The Contact verified that there was no information dating beyond the 1990’s available at the coroner’s office.

PARANORMAL REPORT:

There are claims of cold breezes and feelings of people watching/ following employees.

1^ST VISIT:

Upon my first visit to the Slaughterhouse on 10/31/2011, I was working with (S.A.G.A.P.S.) doing a 12am-4am investigation that was open to the public. I personally experienced some phenomenon while inside the building. The boiler room, elevator room, as well as upstairs shower area appear to be the most active areas inside the building. Although I didn’t venture further than these areas, I did witness a flashlight turn on upon request twice, K-2 spikes, IR nightlight turning on inside the upstairs shower with nothing around it, a voice on the ghost box saying “perhaps” when asked if someone turned my camera off.  I also felt a cold breeze in the boiler room that caught my attention. The rest of the building felt normal, but will be further investigated during lockdown #2.

2^ND VISIT

Upon my second visit to the Slaughterhouse on 5/4/2012, I was joined by my two fellow investigators in Tucson’s Finest Paranormal, Eric and Victor. We began the investigation by doing a quick walkthrough with our hired security guard for the night. He advised us that his girlfriend, as well as himself,  had experienced strange scratches appear on their bodies while near the elevator room, as well as feeling uncomfortable while walking throughout the compound.

We then parted ways with security and headed directly into the elevator room located in the North side of the building. While walking to our destination, our word finder began saying interesting things like “hurry”, as if someone or thing wanted us to move faster. Once inside the elevator room I noticed my E.M.F., (electro-magnetic field detector) was spiking to the “caution” level, indicating a high level of energy within the atmosphere. Upon further investigation, I noticed that large areas of the building were saturated with E.M.F. fields, some stretching the distance of the entire building. These E.M.F. fields are generally caused by exposed conduit and poorly insulated electric lines. But levels of E.M.F. this high may also make people feel energized sensations when overexposed. Paranoia, lightheadedness, headaches, nausea may all be signs of strong E.M.F. presence. Large levels of E.M.F. may also help to increase paranormal activity. By harnessing the energy from the E.M.F. field around them, spirits are able to manifest themselves more easily.

During our investigation, we witnessed some direct responses when asking the spirits to turn on our infrared light on multiple occasions. We often use infrared light devices as a luring device for spirits. This has proven to work well for us in the past to add additional credibility to spirits being present around us. At multiple times during the duration of the investigation the light was turned on by someone or thing when asked directly, only in the upstairs rooms. At no other times during the lockdown was this light set off. The light has about a 1 foot radius, and turns on only in darkness, and only when movement is present.

We also captured two interesting Electronic Voice Phenomenon on one of our digital voice recorders. The first appears to be a direct response to the question asked by myself, “is this a freezer?” with an immediate response saying, “yeah”. The second E.V.P. appears on our recorder only minutes after the 1^st E.V.P. was captured. After enhancing this audio and reviewing it many times, I believe it to be two men arguing with one another saying, “___ __ ___ motherf****”, and another voice saying, “f*** you!”.  We did not hear these voices at the time of the recording and to date, have no definitive answer to the source or origin.

The final piece of evidence captured was a strange shadow moving rapidly across the room inside of the boiler area. I have reviewed the evidence on multiple occasions and am still left intrigued. Both of my fellow investigators are positioned behind me and are not using any lighting devices nor do they appear to be moving. I have not yet deemed it paranormal though it is very interesting.
